Planting & Cultivating

Soil. Bamboo plants love the loose, fresh and wet soil, the nature of soil should be neutual.

Watering.Bamboo need more water, especially in winter or hot weather,as the moisture content evaporates constantly through leaves. When the leaves of bamboo are rolling, that means lack of water.Under the hot and arid weather ,the young bamboo plants must be watered every day.In winter, people water the bamboo only when it isn't freezing and Potted bamboos need more water than those growing in open field.

Proper fertilizer applied. In first two months after planting in spring or beginning of summer, people doesn't need to apply fertilizer to bamboo.Only in the month when the rhizomes begin growing people need add nitrogenous fertilizer. For the old bamboo which have grown for a long time, people begin applying the nitrogenous fertilizer in April. From August on people should stop fertilizerapplying.

Preventing of Insects and Diseases.Although people generally seldom hear about insects and diseases on the bamboo plants, the unpropere growing situation, unproper cultivating and lack of water can lead to damage to the leaves-they will dry and fall. And some insects would appear on the bamboos staying in warm indoors,if they are sometimes moved out to get some wind and rain, the problems can be solved.

How to spend Winter. In the regions where are rather cold and windy, the bamboo should be taken good care of.The common ways are to wrap the stems of bamboo with staw or bamboo mat,and in early winter leave a great deal of falled leaves, straw or mulch on the soil among the bamboos, which will help to prevent the evaporation of moisture in soil and keep the bamboo plants constantly getting required moisture contents.
